Tim and I decided to get away from our cold, gray city and go somewhere warm and bright. We’d had enough of dreary skies, frigid winds and early sunsets.

We packed up our most lightweight clothes and headed out on vacation. We each had two weeks off from work and were both in desperate need of some R&R.

The exterior of our hotel was a gorgeous. Bone white with rich green accents and palm trees surrounding a luxe courtyard. After checking in, we made our way through the lobby and passed an adjacent lounge. I marveled at the tropical dishes, the frozen drinks, the colorful décor and the vibrant local art.

I squeezed Tim’s hand as we boarded the elevator.
