I drive a limousine-for-hire in and out of the airport of a large West Coast city. It was about 2 a.m.

After a particularly slow day, and I decided to do one last trip before calling it a night. I didn’t care who the passenger was, just as long as I got out of the airport, parked the car, and went home. The last plane for a couple of hours came in, and I was disappointed to see only about six people gathered around the luggage carousel. Nobody wanted a limo. Feeling like the sorriest loser on the planet, and prepared to concede defeat, I got back in the car, ready to go home empty.
