Hurtado has been expressing himself through art since childhood and started studying seriously at 16.
Later, after working construction for three years, Hurtado visited a buddy who was working as a tattoo artist and accepted an apprenticeship. Just a year after that, a client entered a Batman color portrait Hurtado had done in the Pomona Tattoo Portrait Contest and it won first place. The image went viral in the tattoo community (we’re talking pre-Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram), and Hurtado’s rep was made.
