I queef a lot during sex, and I’m kind of embarrassed by it.
What causes this, and how do I prevent it? — R.A., Oregon
Queefing is caused by air being pushed inside the vagina and then escaping during sex. It’s very common and most likely to occur while changing positions. Some positions are more likely to cause queefing than others. I don’t like pile-driver and doggie-style for that reason.
When I feel a queef coming on, I put my fingers in my vagina and flex my muscles to expel the air. It makes less of a noise. You should also start exercising your Kegel muscles so you have more control over your vagina.
Keep in mind, however, that once a dude is inside you, he doesn’t really care about queefing.
