I’ve had natural double-F breasts my whole adult life.
I’d like to get a breast reduction, but I’ve never had any kind of surgery before, so I’m nervous. Is there any risk? Will it affect my enjoyment of breast play at all? — A. J., Louisiana
I love huge, natural boobs. My favorite Fs belong to the profoundly fabulous Jelena Jensen. And sucking and licking on them is one of my favorite things to do! However, I do know that they can cause a lot of physical discomfort, and for many women, a reduction makes them more comfortable.
Breast reduction has been around for decades, and there are plenty of doctors out there who specialize in it. There’s always a risk with going under the knife, but if you do your research, pick a reputable doctor and follow all of the pre and post-surgery instructions, you should be fine.
Make sure to pick a doctor who does several reductions a month and makes you feel comfortable during your consultations. Spend plenty of time looking at the before and after photos of several doctors so you can get an idea of how they reshape the breast and what kind of scarring might occur. I’ve never seen a breast reduction that didn’t have some degree of scarring; the amount depends on the surgeon’s technique, how you heal and how well you take care of your body after surgery.
There is a risk of lost sensitivity, and different types of breast reductions carry different costs and benefits. You are going to have to speak to your doctor about your concerns, as your needs will definitely affect his approach. Frequently, full sensitivity does return (if your work is done by a good doctor), but it may take a while. It took me about a year to get full nipple sensitivity back after my breast augmentation surgery.
Finally, get the best doctor you possibly can. While breast reduction surgery is expensive, reconstructive surgery can be about four times more expensive. You’ll want to get it done right the first time.
