The beach town was the default end-of-summer destination for folks in the city where I lived. As the last sultry days came on, people had mostly taken their “serious” vacations, if they could afford them at all. The beachside town was cheap and fun, and the last chance to get your summer on.
I drove the 50 miles there alone, needing one final weekend of debauchery before I pretended to be a grown-up again. A lot of college kids had the same idea, and the quaint little burg was full of young lovelies.
