Being fresh out of my first serious relationship, I felt adrift. But honestly, the word didn’t even begin to cover the restlessness and lack of confidence I felt as a suddenly single guy. On campus, I went through the motions to keep up my grades. Being a workaholic has always come naturally to me. But during one long weekend, I found myself with nothing to do. My friends were all paired off and planning a camping trip. But I passed because I wasn’t into being the odd man out in a group of couples.
