Stepping out of the shower at the bed-and-breakfast, I wrapped myself in a towel and walked over to a window. I pulled the towel tighter around me as I gazed at the field of white below. I glanced at the gray sky and saw it was snowing again.
The inn where we’d rented a room was a very old former farmhouse. It creaked in the wind, but it was lovely.
Craig, my husband, stoked the fire in our room’s hearth and then came up behind me. He wrapped his arms around me and nuzzled my neck.
“Have you caught him watching me?” I asked.
I was speaking about the only other occupant of the house at the time, who was the owner/operator.
“I’d have to be blind and oblivious to have missed that. I think you have a fan, baby.”
