I met James at a convention in Chicago. I first noticed him at one of the seminars.
We were sitting across from each other and every time I looked up, I’d catch him staring at me. We’d exchange a smile and then pretend to focus on the presentation, but the only thing on my mind was how it would feel to be alone with him.
Unfortunately, we never had more than five minutes of privacy. And these days, keeping down company expenses means sharing a room with a coworker. James worked in Washington and I worked in New York, so the best we could do was exchange business cards and say, “Nice meeting you — keep in touch.”
