My husband’s college reunion was last week. Jason was especially excited for me to meet his favorite frat brother, Benjamin. They were inseparable during their undergrad years, but thereafter they’d moved to opposite coasts for job opportunities.

I’ve heard so much about Benjamin, including how he and my husband shared literally everything in school. Yes, everything. Jason had assured me that meant women, too. He also assured me I’d be crazy about him. Hearing my husband talk up the man for years had made me endlessly curious.

Finally, the moment had come. Upon meeting me, Benjamin took my hand in his, and I swear the earth shifted beneath my feet. I looked at Jason, who shot me a knowing look. He didn’t speak, but his eyes definitely screamed, “I told you so.”
