One Friday we were about to close when Simone the receptionist said she had a woman on the line who said she thought she’d done something to herself while working out that afternoon and hoped, late as it was, she might be able to get a massage. Simone assured me it was an actual member and not a crank.

I wanted to accommodate her if possible, if only to make sure she didn’t need medical attention. (I had “lawsuit” flashing in my head.) Since I am a licensed massage therapist, I figured I could do it myself — and if a massage was all she needed, count myself lucky.
