Around this time last year, I lucked into a coveted internship at a top advertising firm in the city. Sure, I had the grades and the resume. But in posh firms like that, it’s all about connections, so it definitely helped that my former sorority sister Jenna had a new stepmom, Gina, who was in charge of the marketing department.
