I was studying on a sports scholarship, so every second I breathed was about rowing. I was the fittest I’d ever been in my life, but mentally, I was resentful.
Watching my friends as they all went off and enjoyed the good parts of college life while I had 5 o’clock practice every morning was killing me. I finally had enough and quit the team. It was a bummer that my so — called “free ride” was over; I now had to apply for student loans like everyone else.
