Katie loves throwing big, fancy dinner parties. She also loves themes, and lately my friend has really been into the ’70s. I think she found an old recipe book at a yard sale or something. Whatever the inspiration, she and her husband invited over five couples — including my husband and myself — for a night they said would celebrate peace and love.

I should also mention that this group is known to get a little wild, especially when the wine is flowing. Swinging is a regular thing among us, so it probably shouldn’t have surprised me to learn that Katie was taking her ’70s theme extra seriously; we found ourselves walking into a key party.

Katie greeted us at the door, holding a large fishbowl. She gave it a shake, making the keys inside jingle.
